What are some common gas plumbing problems?

Gas basics

Every household with natural gas (gas from the gas mains) is connected via a gas meter and regulator. The gas is regulated at low pressure through the property to the home.

Gas can be used for cooking, room heating and water heating. It can be quite dangerous if it escapes from the pipework. Natural gas, while odourless, is actually treated with a chemical to give it a faint rotten egg smell so it can be detected easier. If you smell this in or around your home, you quite possibly have a gas leak. IMPORTANT: Gas should be handled by licenced gas plumbers only. 

So, you think you might have a gas leak?

If you think you can smell gas around your home, firstly disconnect any appliances and do not use your hot water. Go to the gas meter at your property boundary and look to see if the meter is still turning (the meter numbers should remain still and not move if you DO NOT have a leak). Contact Pro Plumber immediately if you think you have a leak and we will make it our priority to ensure you and your family are safe.

Converting from LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) to natural gas
